“Suspicious death” of a woman in an apartment in the Saint-Michel district

The Montreal City Police (SPVM) was investigating the “suspicious death” of a woman that occurred late Saturday afternoon in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension neighborhood of Montreal.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., a 911 call was received regarding a possible disturbance at a home on Bélair Street, near 21stto me an avenue in the Saint-Michel district indicates the SPVM.

After arriving at the scene, the police observed a woman in the apartment with injuries to the upper part of her body. “Resuscitation maneuvers had to be carried out, but unfortunately the woman was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesman for the SPVM.

A man is currently detained in connection with the events. He is expected to meet with investigators in the coming hours. A perimeter was built on the rue Bélair.

Investigators were called to the scene to process the scene and “try to understand the circumstances of this suspicious death,” Brabant said.
